Under “Water Quality Program Assessment and Abatement Dnipro Estuary Project” – technical assistance of the US Environment Protection Agency (ÅÐÀ), ULRMC is planning to hold a regular training for the project recipients from May 30 till June 3, 2005.

Specialists of the Department for Water Basins under the Ministry for Environmental Protection, the Department for Water Resources Integrated Use under the State Water Management Committee, the State Ecological Inspectorate, State Department of Natural Resources of Mykolaiv Oblast, State Department of Natural Resources of Kherson Oblast, and the Dnipro Basin Water Resources Department under the State Water Management Committee have been invited to the training. During the training there will be considered exploitation skills as for last versions of program-modeling complexes for water quality assessment of the Dnipro Estuary, Ingulets, calculation of nitrogen and phosphorus inflow into river basins, calculation of accidentally discharged oil drift trajectories in the Dnipro estuary and mouth, calculation of underground waters stage at the Krasnoznamenska meliorative system (Hola Prystan and Skadovsk Rayons) depending on irrigation and drainage regimes, assessment of closed, flood- plain water reservoirs quality depending on aquatic vegetation types, formation and management system of a database developed under the project and updated after models testing exploitation.

The training will be hold at the ULRMC’s office. Trainers will include model developers, in particular, scientists of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Institute of Mathematic Machines and Systems under NASU, Ukrainian Scientific-Research Institute for Environmental Problems, Ministry for Environmental Protection, and ULRMC. Moreover, at the trainings ULRMC’s specialists will share their experience in operating Arc View software for development of GIS-systems, analysis of ecological situation changes in river basins, as well as observation of algae development using satellite images.
