The Stage ² of "Remote Sensing Data Processing and Interpretation for Analysis of Ukrainian Forestry Status" project implementation has been completed, which resulted in generating a map for Ukrainian forest coverage for 1990 and 2000 scaled for 1:1500000. Changes of not only forest coverage of Ukraine were evaluated in the course of the activities. Additionally, there was generated a map for the natural protected areas where there are singled out reserves appeared after 1990. Moreover, statistical data for great fires surveys within the Ukrainian area for the period of 2000-2003 are provided as well.
The project results' customer is the Institute for National Security Problems.
The immediate future will cover implementation of the project Stage II envisaging more detailed mapping (1:200000 scale) of forest coverage actual status of the Rivne-Zakarpattia and Kherson Oblasts area, including information on composition as for species and age.
