April 23, 2004 - ULRMC hosted and participated in a roundtable on remote sensing and GIS application in agriculture. The main objective of this roundtable was to overview the major examples of remote sensing and GIS use in agriculture and related sectors. The roundtable was organized and held in cooperation with the Fertility Center under the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

During the roundtable the participants overviewed the major examples of remote sensing and GIS application in agriculture by Ukrainian information production developers, discussed the ways of cooperation and information sharing in the future. This round-table meeting was organized and held by ULRMC prior to the National Work Group Meeting under the UNEP-GEF Project "Biodiversity Indicators for National Use (BINU). It was a second round-table, which ULRMC organized for the users of information related to agriculture and environment. The first one was "Indication of the State and Diversity of soil, Agro Ecosystems, and possible applications of remote sensing and geographical information systems", held in July 2003.

Among the participants of the meeting were the representatives of Department of Agriculture Reforming under the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine (MAPU), Department of Markets for Vegetation Products and Seed Farming, Soil Fertility Center under MAPU, Center of Aero Space Research under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), Institute of Space Research under NASU, ÅCÎÌÌ, Ukrainian Institute of Agricultural Aero-Photo-Geodetic Surveys, Ukrainian Institute of National Security Issues, RIVM (the Netherlands) and some other institutions and organizations.
