February 10-13, 2004, ULRMC representative, Dr. Vasyl Prydatko, participated in seminars and meetings, held within the framework of The Seventh Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity which took part in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The seminars and meetings were devoted to the issues of biodiversity indicators use, pilot GIS development, advanced information technologies use, experience exchange in works done under UNEP-GEF "Biodiversity Indicators for National Use (BINU)" project and interrelated projects.

The representatives of the national teams of the BINU Project made clarifications concerning work plan of the project, having discussed the preparation of integrated report for 2004, use of GIS and remote sensing materials, and organization of meetings at national and international levels. Dr. Prydatko presented ULRMC capabilities in the area of remote sensing of earth and GIS. It was also understood that the experience of UNDP-GEF project "Conservation & Sustainable Use of Agrobiodiversity", a pilot project on Rice Farming Aimed At Conserving Traditional Rice Varieties" (Saravak) and Inititatives of NGO "Kalinga Mission for Indigenous Children and Youth Development (Philippines)" is very useful and interesting for BINU project (Agrobiodiversity) implementation.

Dr. Pydatko also had meetings and consultations with the representatives of USDA, Conservation International, Wetlands International, WCMC, International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, UNU-IAS, European Environmental Agency (EEA), International Crane Foundation, International Plant Genetic Resources Institute, Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG), Sabah Wildlife Department, ECOFARE and others.
