May 21-23, 2003, ULRMC participated in the exhibition, as part of the 5-th Pan-European Conference of Environment Ministers "Environment for Europe", held at International Exhibition Centre, Kyiv, Ukraine. Delegations from 53 countries of Europe, America, Caucasus and Central Asia, representatives of numerous international and non-government organizations took part in the Conference.

During the 5-th Pan-European Conference of Environment Ministers "Environment for Europe" very important documents for the world were signed: The Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers to the Aarhus Convention, The Protocol on Strategic Environment Assessment and The Protocol on Civil Liability and Compensation for Damages Caused by Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents and the Carpathian Convention.

ULRMC also presented its capabilities in using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems to solve environmental problems in Ukraine and the region during the exhibition, held within the framework of the Conference. In addition, ULRMC gave a presentation on The Role of Advanced Information Technologies in Transboundary Environmental Management" focused on the application of advanced information technologies, such as remote sensing, geographical information systems (GIS) and Internet capabilities in transboundary environmental management and hazardous situations response.
