ULRMC Hosts Workshop on GIS Applications for Natural Reserve Management

A ULRMC-hosted training workshop on remote sensing and GIS applications in management of protected areas in Ukraine brought together 19 nature reserve experts from Zakarpattia, Khmelnytsk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Kherson and Chernihiv Oblasts, as well as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Kyiv.

The workshop aimed to assist local reserve GIS-specialists in the practical use of remote sensing and GIS tools for managing protected areas, such as steppes, swamps, forests, meadows and other areas, as well as to train them in methods of how to systematize environmental data in order to develop GIS.

During the workshop, ULRMC displayed GIS-products developed by ULRMC experts with support from a group of reserves and local governments that demonstrated high efficiency in Zakarpattia, Mykolayiv and Kherson oblasts and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
